Ubud, Bali

Took a little jaunt into the North of Bali to Ubud – their equivalent of Hebden Bridge, i.e all hippyville & vegan cafes. Was hoping to visit a little arts and crafts silversmith place where you can make your own jewelry. No such luck however as it’s Sunday and closed. Still, I have a nice scenic walk around, it’s pretty. There are rice paddies. And monkeys. The monkeys are meant to live in some monkeyworld jungle place, but seem to be making a run for it as there were a few just sauntering along the road. I photograph them making their break for freedom.

Later that day I meet two crazy ladies by a pool – Laura from California, and Charlotte from Croydon.  Having been on the road for three weeks now, there are clearly certain things that are universal friend makers,  things that unite people from all nationalities. For boys this is a football and/or any kind of sport in general. For traveller girls it is nail varnish. You have never seen people instantly bond so happily as the three of us painting our nails by the pool.  We may have filthy clothes and hair that a small creature could nest in, but we do have pretty nails. Well, until at least nightfall when it melts off on my lethal 100% deet mozzie spray. And yes, if it does this to nail varnish, you would think it would be dangerous to put on your face.

An.an.tas.in : The Anantasin is the name of a shipwreck just of the coast of the Sensi Parasise, Mae Haad Bay, Koh Tao, Thailand. It’s one of my many favorite places.

Lit.tle: Just because it’s cute.
