Tupiza, Bolivia

I have never felt anything like it. We are talking spine tingling, brain numbing cold peops. I HATE the cold.  It’s 7am and we are at the La Quiaca/Villazo border, which doesn’t open for another hour.  The temperature is -2. It could be worse mind, some Australian idiot has flip-flops on.

By midday we make it to Tupiza (and what!) , which is famous for one thing. It’s cowboy territory. It’s where Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid met their demise, in a little village near by, San Vicente in 1908. If you were wondering, they were actually real life characters. Up until today, I just thought they were ficticious in some Hollywood Western. So what better to do in Tupiza than fire up a pony, Wild West style. I had a hat and a grey pony and everything. I was the Milkybar kid. To top it all off we finished the day in a Mexican restaurant, complete with Saloon style swing doors. The kind that you swagger through, looking for a fight, gin and a game of cards.

Pics to follow shortly. The one flaw with this town, is that it really is straight off of the Wild West, circa 1800’s, in terms of internet access at least. I’m cut off from civilization as we know it for the next 4 days :( as a group of us leave for a tour of Salar de Uyuni. Welcome to Bolovia!
