Smugglers Cove,Fiji

So continuing the hazy arrival, one hour later and we’re being welcomed into a semi circle on Smugglers beach where men with guitars ply us with Kava. No not the cheap champagne stuff you have at xmas. The Fijian local drink. Slightly narcotic, served in a coconut shell, looks like dirty ditch water. Tastes like it too. We pick up Will & Chloe (Guernsey) and Chris (Germany.) They have been here a while, so give us the 411, namely where to buy cheep beer at the local ‘superstore.’ Ten minutes down a pitch black track and we get to a shack surrounded by a barbed wire fence. It’s like Prison Break, but we’re on the other side. After a five minute stare out with a little girl and then an Alsatian, and one of them goes to get the owner. Now, there’s no browsing in the superstore, no prices, no stock at all in fact. You simply shout through the barbed wire fence what you want (beer please…) and one gets passed to you from ‘out the back’ in this Mary Poppins/Room 101 tardis. We didn’t push how far our imaginations could go with this, but I recon they could have got pretty much anything you wanted.  Brilliant. We make it back to the beach hammocks just in time to drink it undercover in the middle of a thunderstorm.

Connecting to %s : The Anantasin is the name of a shipwreck just of the coast of the Sensi Parasise, Mae Haad Bay, Koh Tao, Thailand. It’s one of my many favorite places.

Lit.tle: Just because it’s cute.
