The mother of all surprise countries to finish on if ever there was one. Nepal turned out to be one of my absolute faves. It’s so like Bolivia in so many ways, and a brilliant outdoor/extreme sports mecca. With returns as low as £400 from UK it’s a cool/alternative holiday dest if ever there was one. And one day I’ll definitely come back to trek the Annapuna Sanctuary Circuit as we never quite made it to Pokera. Next time.

1)       Rooms with views. The scenery and climate here are pretty spectacular. Jumper weather at night, perfectly sunny days. Unbeatable Mountain panoramas and rice paddy valleys. Why do more people not come here!

2)       Food. Although it’s technically from over the border, Tibetan momo (tiny steamed/fried parcels of cheese/potato) rocked my world for a month. As did small doses of Dahl Bhat in Mustang Bar Chitwan. Yum.

3)       Thamal. The ‘Kaoh San Road’ of Kathmandu, the mass of back alley tourist streets are just what you need after India.

1)       The buses are harder work than most. Not helped by near weekly road blockages and strikes. We keep seeing nice plush Tourist buses. We keep catching scruffy wheel- axle hanging off ones. Road transport is a deathtrap here. Second only to….

2)       The death airport at Lukla. I will have nightmares about that flight for years to come.

3)       Yak cheese. Get this OFF my pizza please.

Where I stayed: Goruda Hotel Kathmandu, Snowland Teahouse Phakling, Hill Ten Namache, Rivendell Lodge Debouche, Amazon Lodge Dingbouche, Alpine Lodge Lobouche, Hotel Himalaya Tengbouche, Everest Lodge Namache Bizaar, Sunny Lodge Lukla, Shivas Dream Chitwan, The Last Resort.

Connecting to %s : The Anantasin is the name of a shipwreck just of the coast of the Sensi Parasise, Mae Haad Bay, Koh Tao, Thailand. It’s one of my many favorite places.

Lit.tle: Just because it’s cute.
