Maman Beach, Pulau Ubin

Here’s the low-down from Pulau Ubin first time around – Click to ping back to previous post.

But when a day-trip isn’t enough, try camping!

Pulau Ubin actually has three (free!) campsites; Jelutong, Noordin and Mamam Beach.

Maman is a 15 min (2.8km) cycle from the jetty, on the North Coast overlooking Malaysia. It’s the more serine place to be whilst the weekend gaggle of teenagers head for Jetutong (only 0.7km it’s closest to the jetty/seafood stalls/bike hire huts.)

There are no showers, so after a day hurtling around Ketam Mountain Bike Park –Glamping it aint! What it can offer you though is; great security (one lone friendly beach dog) and great entrainment (cool views of the red-eye planes touching down at Changi)

We all know the Saturday night lights of Ku De Ta are only 20k across the water. The beauty of Ubin however is that you can trade this all in the blink of a $2 bum boat across the Straits. Not bad for an almost private beach, pink sunrise, and the glimmer of starts away from the city.

Great stuff but where IS the nearest place to wash etc if you’re camping?

Connecting to %s : The Anantasin is the name of a shipwreck just of the coast of the Sensi Parasise, Mae Haad Bay, Koh Tao, Thailand. It’s one of my many favorite places.

Lit.tle: Just because it’s cute.
